Symbols of the Church

The Chalice – The Chalice is the symbol of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Our Lord Jesus commanded us to share in His memorial supper whenever “two or more are gathered in His name.” Communion is open to all who take Jesus as their personal savior regardless of church affiliation. Communion is celebrated at every Sunday worship at Parma Christian Church. The Chalice is symbolic of Holy Communion The Saint Andrew cross on the chalice becomes upright when the chalice is tipped to pour out the symbolic Blood of Christ Baptism – Parma Christian Church has open membership with respect to baptism.

Valid Christian Baptism is accepted for people who transfer their membership to Parma Christian Church. However, baptism at Parma Christian Church is typically by immersion and follows confessing Jesus Christ as the Son of the living God and taking Him as one’s personal savior.

The Peace Candle - Each Sunday worship at Parma Christian Church begins with the lit Peace Candle and the "Universal Prayer for Peace:"

Lead us from death to life, from falsehood to truth. Lead us from despair to hope, from fear to trust.  Lead us from hate to love, from war to peace.  Let peace fill our hearts, our world, our universe.  let us dream together, pray together, work together to build one world for peace and justice for all.
